The trees and flowers are finally finding their colors again after a chilly winter and a brisk spring, and summer is at last upon us!
With summer comes a variety of festivals hosted in different parts of South Korea - all of which offer fun and unique activities for you and your loved ones to celebrate the warm weather together.

Buyeo Seodong Lotus Festival
Located in the historic city of Buyeo, approximately 2 hours from Seoul, the Buyeo Seodang Lotus Festival celebrates the beauty of the lotus flower and the importance of preserving wildflowers. The festival is hosted on a very scenic wide spread of land with thousands of beautiful lotus flowers.
This festival offers many activities involving arts and crafts, especially related to the symbolic lotus flower:
Taebaek Sunflower Festival
Guwau Village in Taebaek city, approximately four hours by train from Seoul, boasts the largest sunflower field in South Korea and is also home to over 300 species of wildflowers. A walking path in the sunflower field allows attendees to immerse themselves in the vibrant beauty of the flowers.
Many nature- and sunflower-themed activities are available:
Pohang Intl Fireworks Festival
Pohang, reachable from Seoul by train (about 2 1/2 hrs), hosts their famous international fireworks festival on Yeongildae Beach. The main feature of the festival is, of course, its display of fireworks, but many other activities are offered both during the day and night:
Of course, these aren't the only summer festivals available in South Korea - you can find information for other festivals here. Have fun and enjoy the sunshine!
